Progressive Letter Writing Cooperative...

Would you like a cooperative way to get your voice heard in Washington?

It's free!

Progressive Secretary sends out progressive email letters to Congress, the President, and other officials on peace, the environment, civil rights and other issues.

The letters are suggested by participants in the cooperative and are sent to you as a proposal.

If you tell us to "send", then the letters are sent to your Congress people and others noted in the proposal over your signature and return address. A report is sent to you. If you like, you can send the letters yourself.

Letters are not sent without your specific approval.

Your name and email are never given out except to recipients of your letters.

There is no charge for this. We volunteer our time because Jim and Pat are Quakers and long-time activists, and we believe in helping progressive people make their voices heard on important issues. There are no advertisements or other annoyances. You can cancel at any time.

How this Works!

SIMPLE!
We email you you proposed letters, one by one, never more than one per week. The proposal contains the subject, the text of the letter, and who will receive it.  (Take a look at previous letter proposals here.)
If you have internet access, you just click the send / learn more link in the email proposal.
The link will bring you to Progressive Secretary's unique and private action page.  Sometimes you might be asked to type your zip code to ensure that the letter gets sent to your correct representatives.  On that page, you can click on further links to read expert commentary and research about the issue, or edit the letter so that it says exactly what you want, or simply click "Send this message."  Or, you simply ignore the email if you do not want to speak out about that topic. Either way, we'll email you another proposal when it is ready.
That's all there is to it!

Sign Up to Speak Out

Speaking up is essential to our democracy, but it isn't always easy to squeeze in the time for letter writing in our busy days.  I have used Progressive Secretary, an all-volunteer online service, to send important messages to the President, Congress and other leaders since this organization was founded in the early '90's.  Progressive Secretary is non-partisan, its messages are usually very clear and simple, and it's easy to use.  It doesn't jam up my email box and there is no pressure to sign any letters.  It's that simple.
